Celebrating National Dental Hygienists Week!

Here at LAT Dentistry, we count ourselves as fortunate to have some of the best dental hygienists in the Roanoke Valley: Lyndsey, Kimmy and Victoria! Every year, during National Dental Hygienists Week, we like to recognize these ladies for their outstanding commitment to both our practice and to our patients’ oral and overall health. Dental hygienists are the ones who work closely with patients every day - educating, preventing, and caring in ways that go far beyond a routine cleaning. For many patients, dental hygienists are the friendly faces that make dental visits less intimidating. They build relationships, ease anxieties and create a comfortable environment, especially at our office where we hope to promote spa-like vibes.

This week also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of good oral hygiene and its connection to overall health. Infections from untreated teeth can lead to serious conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and even reproductive issues like infertility. With nearly 47% of adults over the age of 30 showing signs of periodontal (gum) disease, keeping up with your routine cleanings and home care can make a world of difference to your health! The good news is that most oral health conditions are largely preventable and can be treated in their early stages. Check out our hygienists’ home care routines for optimal health (below), and remember - it’s never JUST a cleaning - it’s disease prevention!
